Geologic Time Scale |
The geologic time scale is a system of chronological measurement that relates geology to time, and is used by geologists, paleontologists, and other earth scientists to describe the timing and relationships between events that have occurred throughout Earth's history. It is a guide to the major eras and periods of the earth's history, from the very beginning of the planet to now. The geologic time scale includes four major eras: the Cenozoic, Mesozoic, Paleozoic, and the Precambrian era. Each of the eras includes different periods and what the periods were known for. |
